Ann Arbor is a city in Michigan that serves as the county seat of Washtenaw County. With a population of 117,082, Ann Arbor is the sixth largest city in Michigan.

You’re probably curious about how the city got its name. After all, who was Ann? The city was founded in 1842, and its founders were both married to women named Ann. What better way to honor your wife than to name a city after her? But that’s not the only interesting fact about Ann Arbor.

The University of Michigan is a well-known location in Ann Arbor. But originally, the university was in Detroit. The university moved to Ann Arbor in 1837, and is an important part of the city. The university currently employs more than 30,000 workers, and is an important part of Ann Arbor’s economy.

Ann Arbor is also known for its dangerous intersections. The problem is so severe, until the city releases an annual list of its most dangerous intersections. In 2018, 28.2 percent of all Michigan traffic fatalities occurred at intersections. And statistics show that Ann Arbor has some of the state’s most dangerous intersections.

The city’s most dangerous intersection is State Street and Ellsworth Road. In 2019, there were 154 car accidents at that one intersection. It’s believed that distracted driving contributed to many of these accidents.

A defensive driving course can encourage drivers to become more alert behind the wheel. If you’ve received a traffic ticket in Ann Arbor, consider the benefits of a defensive driving course. You can improve your driving skills, and decrease your chances of getting another ticket. Plus, you’ll make the streets safer by becoming a more alert driver.
