Aurora is a city that spans four counties: Will, Kendall, DuPage, and Kane counties in Illinois. The city is located primarily in the counties of Kane and DuPage. In 2019, Aurora had a population of 199,927 residents. The city also ranked at number 60 on a list of Illinois cities with the worst drivers.

Car accidents are a frequent occurrence in Aurora and the four counties that it covers. But DuPage County has the highest number of car accidents out of all the four counties.

The Illinois Department of Transportation reported that DuPage County had 20,788 car crashes in 2018. Kendall County had 2,012 crashes, Will County had 15,000 crashes, and Kane County had 11,009 crashes. DuPage also had the most fatalities, with a total of 34 for the year.

Overall, the state of Illinois had 319,146 car crashes in 2018. There were also a total of 1,035 traffic fatalities.

If you live in Aurora, you have a chance to make the streets safer for all drivers. A defensive driving course can help improve your driving. You’ll refresh your driving knowledge, receive tips for becoming a safer driver, and learn to feel more confident behind the wheel. And if you’ve received a traffic ticket, taking the course might get it dismissed.
