Cedar Rapids is the county seat of Linn County, and it’s the second largest city in Iowa. Des Moines is the state’s largest city, and it’s 100 miles northeast of Cedar Rapids. According to the 2019 United States Census, Cedar Rapids has a population of 132,301. That’s a huge jump from its 2010 population of 126,326.

One thing that attracts residents to Cedar Rapids is that it’s a center of arts and culture. The city is home to the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, the Paramount Theater, Orchestra Iowa, the African American Museum of Iowa, and the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art.

In addition to its wealth of arts and culture, Cedar Rapids also has relatively safe drivers.

Iowa is ranked 32nd on the list of states with the worse drivers. There are 4.49 DUI arrests for every 1000 drivers on the road. And there are only 1.21 fatalities per 100 million miles traveled. Is that great? No, it’s not great. It could get a lot better, but at least it’s not terrible.

Are you comfortable with your driving skills? Are you a Cedar Rapids resident who wants to become a better driver? A defensive driving course can provide the help you need. The course will refresh your driving knowledge, and might even teach you something new.
