Davenport is a city located in Scott County, Iowa. Davenport is situated close to the Mississippi River, and is known as a green city. The city earned that moniker thanks to its more than 50 local parks. Davenport certainly has beautiful scenery, but what about local roads? How is the state of Iowa when it comes to driver safety?

In 2019, there were 58,554 car crashes in Iowa. There were also 336 fatalities, and more than 15,000 serious injuries. During this same period, Scott County had 129,370 licensed drivers. Considering Iowa had more than 3 million residents in 2019, it’s not surprising that so many crashes occurred.

No matter how small the number, traffic fatalities are never good. And seeking to lower the amount of fatalities per-year is always a wise decision. But accidents happen. It’s impossible to completely eliminate traffic accidents. However, education is a good way to help lower the numbers.

A defensive driving course is designed to help people improve their driving skills. It’s an easy way to become reacquainted with some rules of the road you may have forgotten. And if you’ve received a traffic ticket, you just might get the ticket dismissed.
