If you live in Dayton, take extra care when you’re driving. A 2019 research study found that Ohio has some of the worse drivers in the US. You may disagree with those findings, but consider these facts.

In Montgomery County, where Dayton is located, there were 41 traffic fatalities in 2019. That’s five fewer crashes than in 2018, but any deaths are too many. Thirteen of the 41 fatalities occurred because of drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Overall, the state of Ohio ranked number 8 in the nation for having the worst drivers.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that 30 people die per-day in the US because of drunk driving. That’s more than 10,000 lives lost per-year. Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is not only deadly, but it’s also illegal. In addition to getting a ticket and paying a fine, driving under the influence can land you in jail.
