Elgin is a city located in Cook County and Kane County in Illinois. The city has an estimated population of 110,849 residents, and it’s the eighth largest city in Illinois.

In 2020, 1,166 people died in traffic fatalities on Illinois streets. That’s a 16 percent increase over 2019 numbers. Drivers, passengers, motorcyclists, pedestrians, and bicyclists were among those killed in these accidents.

In 2019, Kane County had 29 traffic fatalities. During the same period, Cook County had 239 traffic fatalities. Since Elgin is located in both counties, it’s safe to assume some of these accidents occurred in the city of Elgin.

Drivers must keep in mind that the road doesn’t belong to them. There are motorcyclists, pedestrians, bicyclists, and passengers on the roads, too. While everyone on the road should practice safety, drivers should take extra care because a car is like a deadly 300-pound weapon.

Have you received a traffic ticket? Chances are you have, at least if you’re reading this article. A defensive driving course is one way to possibly get your ticket dismissed. The course will also help you become a better driver.
