Grand Rapids is a city located in Kent County, Michigan. It’s also the largest city in the state. Grand Rapids was once famous for its furniture, and was known as America’s Furniture Capital. Today, Grand Rapids is a center of office furniture manufacturing in the US.

Kent County, where Grand Rapids is located, had a high number of traffic accidents in 2018. There were 22,307 traffic crashes. Out of that number, there were 61 fatalities. There were also 4,028 serious injuries.

In Michigan state, there were 314,376 total crashes. Out of that number, 902 fatalities occurred. There were also 54,539 serious injuries. And 258,935 of the accidents resulted in property damage.

Most of the Michigan accidents occurred on dry roads during daylight hours. However, speeding was a factor in the majority of the accidents. Speeding is deadly, and causes thousands of deaths per-year. It’s a bad habit that more drivers should learn to avoid.

Have you received a speeding ticket? Turn that ticket into something positive by taking a defensive driving course. You just might get your ticket dismissed, and you’ll improve your driving skills in the process.
