Hartford is the capital city of Connecticut. With a population of 120,203, Hartford is the fourth largest city in the state. Bridgeport, Stamford, and New Haven take the top spots when it comes to population.

Hartford has the distinction of being one of the oldest cities in the US. It was founded in 1635, and is home to some truly historical locations. Hartford has the oldest public art museum in the US – the Wadsworth Atheneum. The oldest public park – Bushnell Park – and the oldest continuously published newspaper – the Hartford Courant – are located in Hartford.

Hartford is a historical location, and its residents have a lot to feel proud of. But where traffic accidents are concerned, the situation could use some improvement.

Speeding, improper lane changes, and tailgating are common causes of accidents in Hartford and all of Connecticut. In fact, 30 percent of all auto accidents in the state are caused by tailgating. And in 2014, Hartford had more accidents per mile than any other city in the state.

A defensive driving course can possibly improve the driving situation in Hartford. If you’ve received a traffic ticket in Hartford, consider taking a defensive driving course. It will help you improve your driving skills, make the streets safer, and help you feel more confident behind the wheel.
