High Point is located in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. High Point is the only city in North Carolina that’s actually in four different counties. Most of the city is in Guilford, but portions of High Point also extend into the counties of Randolph, Davidson, and Forsyth.

With a population of 111,714, High Point is the ninth largest municipality in North Carolina. It’s also the 259th largest city in the US. With a population of that size, it’s no surprise that the city has some issues with traffic accidents.

In 2019, there were eight traffic fatalities. That’s a slight increase over the one that occurred in 2018. There were also four drunk driving fatalities in 2019, which is an increase over the two that occurred in 2018.

Those stats aren’t terrible, but the numbers are going up instead of down. Encouraging residents to enroll in defensive driving courses isn’t such a bad idea.

If you’ve received a traffic citation in High Point, you might want to consider a defensive driving course as well. You can possibly get your ticket dismissed, and improve your driving skills in the process.
