The city of Mobile is located in Mobile County, Alabama. If youโ€™re a resident, then you live in a city with some of the safest drivers in Alabama.

In a 2018 QuoteWizard research study, Mobile came in 8th place on a list of Alabama cities with the best drivers. The top three spots went to Mountain Brook, Troy, and Selma. The top three cities with the worst drivers in Alabama are Trussville, Millbrook, and Alabaster.

The rankings were based on how many speeding tickets, DUIs, crashes, and traffic citations each city issued or experienced.

The Alabama Department of Transportation shared some surprising data about drivers in Mobile County, and Alabama in general.

In 2018, there were a total of 68,191 non-intersection related crashes in Alabama. Of those crashes, 6,178 occurred in Mobile County. Also in 2018, Alabama had 91,734 intersection-related crashes. Of those crashes, 9,948 occurred in Mobile County.

Failing to yield the right of way caused most of the accidents, and resulted in 96 fatalities. Tailgating was the second biggest cause of the accidents. And four fatalities occurred because of tailgating accidents.

Drunk driving accounted for 4,119 Alabama accidents in 2018. The DUI incidents resulted in 89 fatalities. At 139, the most fatalities were caused by speeding accidents. Speeding is one of the most dangerous things a driver can do. Itโ€™s right up there with drunk driving.
