North Charleston is a city located in South Carolina. It has incorporated areas in three counties – Dorchester, Berkely, and Charleson. With a population of 111,501 residents, it’s one of the largest cities in South Carolina.

After several failed attempts at incorporation, the city was finally incorporated in 1972. At that time, it became the ninth-largest city in South Carolina. Later that year, the city became the fourth largest city in the state because it annexed the Naval Base, Air Force Base, and the Charleston International Airport.

North Charleston is now one of South Carolina’s major industrial centers. It’s also the home of Academic Magnet High School, which is one of the top high schools in the US.

One of the counties in which North Charleston is located, Berkeley, has a high number of drunk driving accidents. In 2019, Berkeley had 544 traffic fatalities. Eighteen of those fatalities were caused by drunk drivers.
