Rockford is a city that goes by many names. Its founders called it “Forest City” because of its lush greenery. And today, Rockford is known as the “City of Gardens.” That’s a fitting name, considering the city has 7,000 acres of parkland, several public gardens, and numerous tree-lined streets.
Rockford has a population of 168,468 residents. It’s one of Illinois’ largest cities, but still small enough to offer a simple and uncomplicated way of life. Rockford is also the county seat for Winnebago County.
As with most populous cities, Rockford has issues with traffic violations. In 2020, the Rockford Police Department made 163 traffic-related arrests during Labor Day. In addition, four drivers received tickets for distracted driving. Another 33 drivers received tickets for driving without a seatbelt.
Rockford participated in the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign to raise awareness of drunk driving. The city also participated in the “Click It or Ticket” campaign to encourage residents to wear seat belts.
Rockford is certainly doing its part to make driving safer for all residents. You can help as well by taking a defensive driving course. If you have a traffic ticket, you may have the option to get the ticket dismissed by taking a defensive driving course. Or perhaps you’d just like to brush up on your driving skills. Either way, you’ll benefit from taking a defensive driving course.
