The city has several nicknames, including Flower City. It might surprise you to know that Abraham Lincoln lived in Springfield for 24 years. He wasn’t born there, but the city claims the former president as one of its own. Lincoln’s Springfield home is a historic site open for public tours.

These locations include the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, the Lincoln Tomb, and the Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices State Historic Site. Springfield is proud of its former resident, but Lincoln probably wouldn’t feel very proud about his state’s driving record.
