Sterling Heights is located in Macomb County, Michigan. With a population of 132,476, the city is the second largest in Metro Detroit, and the fourth largest city in Michigan.

Did you know that from 1836 to 1838 Sterling Heights was officially named Jefferson Township? It was eventually renamed Sterling Township. In 1968 the city became incorporated, but there was already a city named Sterling in a nearby county. Incorporated cities can’t have the same name, so Sterling officially changed its name to Sterling Heights. How’s that for a bit of local trivia?

There’s a debate in Sterling about the safety of its roads. One of Michigan’s most dangerous intersections is located in Sterling Heights. The intersection is a roundabout, and residents say the high number of accidents is because of the roundabout. But others argue that roundabouts decrease accidents and that reckless driving is at-fault here.

In any case, a defensive driving course can help improve a person’s driving. Even for seasoned drivers, taking a refresher course isn’t a bad idea. If you’re a Sterling Heights driver, why not consider enrolling in a defensive driving course? It will improve your driving, and you’ll feel more confident when facing a roundabout.
