The city of Waterbury is located in New Haven County, Connecticut. With a population of 108,276 residents, Waterbury is the second largest city in the county. Waterbury is sometimes called The Brass City because it was once the center of brass production in the US.

If you’re a Waterbury resident, you should take extra care when driving. The state of Connecticut has a less-than-perfect reputation when it comes to driving. In 2018, the state ranked number one as the state with the worst drivers in the US.

According to the Connecticut Crash Data Repository, Connecticut had 316,506 car crashes between 2018 and 2020. These crashes involved 742,776 people and 595,297 automobiles. There were 808 fatalities and 1,860 serious injuries.

Speeding and drunk driving played a significant role in these crashes. That’s not a surprise though, considering that drunk driving and speeding is a deadly combination. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 29 people in the US die every day in drunk driving accidents.

If you’re a safe driver, then pat yourself on the back. You’re doing your part to keep the streets of Waterbury safe for everyone. But if you’ve received a traffic ticket, you might want to consider a defensive driving course. The course can help improve your driving, and possibly get your ticket dismissed.
