If you’re headed to the VA DMV to get your provisional driver’s license, you might be wondering how many questions are on the Learners Permit Test in Virginia.  There are two different sections on the Learners Permit Test in Virginia.  The first section is 10 questions long and covers road signs.  The second section is 25 multiple choice questions long and covers a variety of questions that are all based on general knowledge from the Virginia Driver Handbook.

You are not allowed to miss any questions on the road signs portion of your test and must achieve 100% accuracy.  You may miss 5 questions on your general knowledge test and must achieve 80% accuracy to pass.

How much does the Virginia Learners Permit Test Cost?

To get your learner’s permit in the state of Virginia, you must pay the $3 learner’s permit fee and pass the applicable test.  A reexamination fee of $2 is applicable if you fail the exam and retake it within 15 days.  Driver’s license fees will be based on how long your license will be valid (please refer to the Fee Chart provided by the Virginia DMV for more information).

What Happens If I Fail the Virginia Learners Permit Test?

Not everyone passes the Virginia Learners Permit test on their first attempt.  If you don’t succeed on your primary go at the test, you will get three chances to get it right.  If you don’t pass within three attempts, you will have to complete the classroom portion of a Drivers Ed course again before you will be allowed another try.  You are subject to paying a $2 reexamination fee for your permit test.

Having access to practice tests or even a Virginia DMV cheat sheet can really help you get ready for the test.  Make sure to check out DMV-written-test.com.  Their 99.2% student pass rate is worth noting if you’re struggling to pass.
