Syracuse is the fifth most populated city in the state of New York, having 142,874 residents. The city is also the county seat of Onondaga County.

The city was named after Syracuse, Sicily. Its founders chose the name because of the similarities between the two cities, including a thriving salt industry. These days, Syracuse is an educational and economic hub of Central New York.

Perhaps Syracuse is best known for the amount of snow it receives. The city generally gets more than 120 inches of snow per year. However, residents love the city because it’s one of the most affordable locations in the state. The city is also a good place for families.
