Raleigh drivers have it pretty easy. In a ranking of the best and worst cities to be a driver in the United States, Raleigh came in tenth, making it one of the best cities for drivers in the U.S. Raleigh’s drivers benefit from lower costs, better traffic and road conditions, higher safety, and better overall driver and car wellness. Three other North Carolina cities made the top 10 along with Raleigh, including Greensboro, Durham, and Winston-Salem.

This is, of course, good news for Raleigh drivers. It’s always reassuring to hear that your city is safer than most, especially on the road. But that doesn’t mean Raleigh drivers can assume they’ll be safe and forget about taking safety precautions. Rather, it’s always smart to be on guard for potentially dangerous driving situations. Despite the relative safety of Raleigh’s roads, drivers in the city and surrounding areas should take defensive driving classes. With a defensive driving class, you can become a safer driver, learning how to avoid collisions, tickets, and other trouble on the road.

In addition to improving your driving skills and making you a safer driver, defensive driving courses can help you get out of a traffic ticket in North Carolina. Often, North Carolina drivers are able to enroll in defensive driving courses for traffic ticket dismissal. Defensive driving courses can also be used to remove driving record points and receive insurance discounts of up to 20 percent.

Texas law allows individuals to complete defensive driving classes either in person through a commercial driving school or through an online provider approved by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). While both options have their advantages, there's no doubt that most drivers find online courses to be the most convenient. After all, you can work on the course at any time of the day or night with the availability of taking breaks.
